Nereid Eurydike

Nereid Eurydike

Unikat | 40 cm x 60 cm | With frame

In Greek mythology, the Nereids are the 50 daughters of Nereus and Doris. They are nymphs of the sea who protect shipwrecked people. They live at the bottom of the sea and are companions of the god Poseidon. In many ancient Greek depictions the Nereids ride on the backs of dolphins or hippocampuses. The nymph Eurydice was Orpheus' wife who died of a snake bite. After his journey to the realm of the dead, she was allowed to follow him on the way back after he had enchanted Persephone with his music in Hades.

The picture frames are personally and individually selected by the artist and professionally, conservationally sustainably custom-made by hand.
