In Greek mythology, the Cassiopea jellyfish is dedicated to Cassiopeia, the mother of Andromeda. In terms of phylogenetic history, jellyfish are among the oldest living creatures; they can be traced back 670 million years to the Precambrian period. In ancient times, Aristotle was interested in them, and among the hundred or so sea creatures he described, he called them cnidae, which means “stinging,” indicating that they move here and there on the water. There are around 100 species of jellyfish in the Mediterranean.
The picture frames are personally and individually selected by the artist and professionally, conservationally and sustainably custom-made by hand.
